Lessons Learned From Quilting
A one hour lecture that covers my journey as a quilter. The top ten things I’ve learned while quilting include how to stay motivated, how to boost your creativity and how to simply have more fun quilting. The program includes numerous quilts I’ve made over the years. You’ll go home feeling motivated and inspired!
Modern Quilts from Traditional Designs
After a brief explanation of how the Modern Quilting movement got started, we'll discuss what design elements make a quilt modern. We'll then talk about how to use these elements with popular, traditional quilt blocks and designs to create modern looking quilts. The lecture includes numerous quilts as examples, including many of the quilts from my latest book Simply Modern Christmas.
Beginning Machine Appliqué
Learn machine appliqué using paper-backed fusible webbing and machine buttonhole stitch. Class includes techniques for creating a soft feel to your appliqué, and handling inside and outside points. You’ll complete an 8” x 10” Tulip block and receive directions for turning it into a small pillow.

Classes - 3 hour classes are $300, maximum 12 students

For those with some machine quilting skills, take your quilting beyond stippling. We will practice stitching-in-the-ditch, stitching grids and some of my favorite free-motion designs. Learn how to “Quilt as desired” when we discuss how to plan your quilting designs. You’ll complete a small quilted sample.

Freezer Paper Hand Appliqué
Learn hand appliqué using freezer paper and needle turn techniques. Class includes bias stems, inside and outside points. Several methods of preparing the background will be demonstrated.
Modern Dresden
Learn how to make the traditional Dresden Plate block using modern fabrics and modern techniques. You'll easily make at least one block in class by machine or a combination of hand and machine sewing. Complete instructions for setting the blocks together will be provided in class.
