I've found two wonderful versions of the quilt on flickr. I wanted to post them here (with owners permission), but can't figure out how to post pictures from flickr. If anyone can tell me - please! fill me in!
The first using the gorgeous Loulouthi by AMH was made by ibmomof2. Click here
If you've made one let me know. It's one of my favorite quilts now and I love seeing it made up in different fabrics.
So yesterday I was "Swooning". This large Alexander Henry print is my focus fabric. I've been saving it for something special. All was going well until I completed the block and realized that the black is too overpowering for my lovely fabric. This block is going into the scrap pile!
I redid it today and I'm so much happier. Each block uses 2 fabrics and I've learned that although there should be contrast, not to let one fabric scream over the other. Lesson learned. Hope the remaining 8 go better!
Don't forget - leave a comment for a chance at the magazine!

Love your quilt! Please count me in on the give away.
ReplyDeleteBoth of your blocks are great, but you are right in the second is more appealing! Hope you find a good use for the other one!

ReplyDeleteThat quilt looks lovely so does your version of swoon. Easy peasy on the flickr photos. Click the photo you like to open it in its own window. Click the down arrow furthest to the right. Go to Grab the HTML/BBCode then pick your size and grab the code out of the box. If you need pictures email me and I will send you some screen shots.
ReplyDeleteOpps on the first one. A little backwards there for a second.

Great "Welcome" quilt. Would love that pattern/magazine! I just looked at my swoon pattern yesterday. It's funny how different the blocks can look with different contrasts.

ReplyDeleteYour quilt is lovely and I appreciate the chance to win an issue of the magazine so have a copy of the pattern. I too like the second block best. Congratulations for being published.
ReplyDeleteThe magazine quilt is FANTASTIC! I'd love the magazine, although I'd just love the finished quilt more! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm with you and the others-2nd block is best. What do you do with scrap blocks? I've got a small stack of the and can't bring myself to throw them away, but what to do with them alludes me.
Thanks for the giveway. I like both but second one does work best.
ReplyDeleteLike both blocks.
ReplyDeleteBeing in Texas, I'll miss meeting. But do like both blocks and agree, second one works great.
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome quilt! I made a pillow in that pattern years ago and always wanted to make a quilt. Also love your Swoon blocks.
ReplyDeleteLove the change you made to the block. I really liked the way the first one looked and then I scrolled down and fell in love. :) I agree about the contrast, many quilters forget that and the pieces all run together. Can hardly wait to see them all done.
ReplyDeleteOh I love those swoon blocks. They looks so intricate and beautiful. I loved the black one until I saw the one with the black and white print. Glorious! You have such an amazing eye.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt. Congratulations for getting published and thank you for sharing your design in this issue too. Nice gift back to the quilting world.
ReplyDeleteI do realize I'm too late for your giveaway, but I wanted to leave a comment anyway.
