Chevrons

I've been seeing chevrons everywhere lately! Is it because I love the design and I'm noticing them all of a sudden? Or are they the latest fad? No matter what I can think of umpteen ideas for them.

I started with some purple, gray and light orange strips and sewed them into strip sets with a 1/2" strip of white between each one.
Cut them on a 45 degree angle and cut rows 4 1/2" wide.
Two rows made a chevron and I added 1/2" strips between each chevron.
I think it was a successful experiment! I couldn't resist taking a photo in the beautiful Fall sun!

  41. I absolutely love this! I would love to make one for myself (or try at least), but I can not figure out how you did this. Even with the tutorial I'm lost (must be the blonde showing through). Is there anyway you could email me with a more detailed explanation? Mainly about the strips and how you got them into a chevron and cutting them? Or do you have a pattern or anything?
    Thank you so much!

  45. I also would like some detailed information on this AWESOME quilt! I understand the white border, but the cut on 45' is confusing to me. Also width and length of colored strips. Did you have a pattern with material needs? HELP... I'm fairly new to this. :) Lewann_98@yahoo.com

  46. Wow..this is a fresh take on the chevron that we're seeing so much of lately! The white between the strips really set things off and make it look so much more difficult than it is! I'm going to give this a try!! Thanks for posting this!!!! Barb

  53. I've loved this quilt for years, and just had a request from a friend to make something similar for her. Would you be willing to share what the width of your colored strips were, prior to sewing? I'm guessing maybe 4 inches?? Thanks so much!
