I started with some purple, gray and light orange strips and sewed them into strip sets with a 1/2" strip of white between each one.
Cut them on a 45 degree angle and cut rows 4 1/2" wide.
Two rows made a chevron and I added 1/2" strips between each chevron.
I think it was a successful experiment! I couldn't resist taking a photo in the beautiful Fall sun!

Looks great. I am working on a garden fence design which I found on Freebies. Next I was thinking what to do for a board. This would be great just make it a little smaller. Thanks Sandra
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this terrific tutorial. Your color choice is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLovely and looks so easy for beginners! However, how many different fabrics would you advise? Thanks for sharing

ReplyDeleteGorgeous quilt! I don't know how easy it seems but it really is stunning! :)
ReplyDeleteLove the quilt! I was wondering if you could tell me what size of strips you started out with and if the white middle strips where originally 1/2" or if that was the finished width. My email is kitchenstitchin@gmail.com. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI'm cutting fabric tonight for this! So excited and thanks for the tutorial!
ReplyDeleteThat quilt is calling my name ... I too want to know the size of the strips - I guess the white strips are one-inch to finish at half-inch.
ReplyDeleteMy email address is rita.girl@earthlink.net

ReplyDeleteI love this pattern and I have some questions: How many fabric each sort do you use for which size of quilt? Are the measurements finished sizes or cutting sizes? Would be so greatfull if you can answer to quappwuermer@aol.com!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes and sorry for my english - I'm from germany!
Christiane
I absolutely love this! I would love to make one for myself (or try at least), but I can not figure out how you did this. Even with the tutorial I'm lost (must be the blonde showing through). Is there anyway you could email me with a more detailed explanation? Mainly about the strips and how you got them into a chevron and cutting them? Or do you have a pattern or anything?
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!

Love love love this! My favorite chevron quilt yet. If you have emailed more detailed instructions, would you mind forwarding them to me? Thank you!

I would love some more detailed understanding as well, I don't understand how to cut the 45* angle. kelleygodbold@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteHi!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt!!! I'm another one that would love to get some more detailed instruction as to how you cut and pieced this together. I just can't figure it out!
astrid_claire@hotmail.com
I also would like some detailed information on this AWESOME quilt! I understand the white border, but the cut on 45' is confusing to me. Also width and length of colored strips. Did you have a pattern with material needs? HELP... I'm fairly new to this. :) Lewann_98@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteWow..this is a fresh take on the chevron that we're seeing so much of lately! The white between the strips really set things off and make it look so much more difficult than it is! I'm going to give this a try!! Thanks for posting this!!!! Barb
ReplyDeleteI love this quilt, and the way to whits defines each chevron. I want to make one like it with the jelly roll I picked up last weekend, but I'm not sure how you cut the 45* angles. Some more understanding would be so helpful, Thank you!

ReplyDeleteI've loved this quilt for years, and just had a request from a friend to make something similar for her. Would you be willing to share what the width of your colored strips were, prior to sewing? I'm guessing maybe 4 inches?? Thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteamhalverson(at)gmail(dot)com Thanks!!
