The plus signs are done in solids which really makes them pop and the colors create diagonal lines across the quilt top. It's not as readily noticeable, but the solid aqua/teal/mint backgrounds create diagonal lines in the opposite direction.
A little shot of the back of the quilt - a great black and white print from Ikea...
I started with a line called Rapture by Art Gallery and added some coordinating prints from my stash - many of them turned out to be older Art Gallery pieces.
The awesome wave quilting was done by Abby Latimer and turned out to be the absolute perfect design for this quilt...
So now it's one of my favorites!!!
Gorgeous! Love your colour combo.
ReplyDeleteI have been considering that quilt. Now re-inspired. I also love the way you ombred (is that a word?) from the dark red to coral to orange to yellow to white. I am still a fan of the ombre look of dark to pale. Great job and I agree the wave quilting is perfect.
ReplyDeleteI adore this quilt! So lovely. The colors are perfect, and I like how having the crosses in solids really does make them pop. Just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI don't usually like X and + quilts (maybe because I've seen so many) but I really like this one! I think it's your color placement and that awesome quilting. The quilting really gives it an extra dimension and even an optical illusion! and your diagonal placement of color is fun! Great work.
ReplyDeleteThis is amazing. Love love the colors.
ReplyDeleteColor and its Placement is everything is proven with this stunner. I might just consider an X and + now... Thank you for sharing the love.

ReplyDeleteThis is so beautiful. I love your color choices! I've wanted to make one of these for a while but wanted some sort of unifying thing between the blocks. I am really inspired by your choice to have the center be solids. :D
