We've been exploring our new hometown and have been fascinated by the old mills that are peppered throughout the area. Greenville, SC has a rich textile history and finding the old mills that have been converted into living spaces has been a treasure. This one found in the Simpsonville area provided a nice backdrop for the quilt on a beautiful day.
I used a voile to back this one. It's the second time I've done that and again I'm finding that the quilt has a wonderful softness and drape unique to the voile.

It's beautiful, Cindy! I've always thought of voile as such a delicate fabric. Is it sturdy enough for the back of a quilt that's going to get a lot of use?

ReplyDeleteThats a stunner! Love the idea of using a voile fabric for the backing. Please let us know how it ends up wearing, cause I would likke to try that. I bet it drapes like a dream! What kind of batting would you suggest using with a more supple backing like that?
