The pattern is Bourbon Street by Sassafras Lane Designs. I went for a soft vintagey color scheme of yellow, green, coral, pink, aqua and gray.
I rummaged through my scraps and small pieces to find favorite prints...
making it a fun album of favorites from the past few years. The aqua solid is a Cirrus solid from Cloud 9.
This is a big quilt for me, so I quilted it on the Bernina longarm at my local quilt shop. The back is one of my favorite Anna Maria Horner prints - it's a winner with all the colors and found on sale at Hawthorne Threads.
We took it on an outing at a local nursery while shopping for plants. Seems to fit nicely in the garden, don't you think?
I don't immediately wash all my quilts, but this one is going in to get all crinkled up. I think it will be a good snuggler!!
I've seen this pattern before in Mardi Gras colors, apropo I suppose. You choices give it a fresh and totally different feel. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is a beautiful show-stopper. And the colors are so fresh and soothing! I really dislike paper piecing, but could probably piece that sashing with templates (??) congrats on your finish.
ReplyDeleteThis turned out beautifully!

ReplyDeleteLove the blue Cirrus solid you chose for your quilt. A perfect color--really pulls it all together in a wonderful way.

ReplyDeleteI love the colors. This is so pretty. calm on the outside, party in the middle.
ReplyDeleteSweeeeet
Just saw your post and beautiful quilt. I too love the pattern and it would be a great one to use up some of my scraps too. I even have a pantograph that would be fun to quilt it with called Bourbon street. Now to find the pattern and I'm all set. Thanks for sharing the idea. PS I miss you at guild. We are going to the Country Wine Gardens next month -- come surprise us if you are in the area.
ReplyDeleteThis quilt is gorgeous! The aqua really softens it up and gives it a vintage look which I love. I liked it so much that I decided to check out the pattern. Yours looks so much nicer than the original version.

ReplyDeleteI think this is wonderful. I have not had a chance to look at the other blogs. However, the tumbling spools looks awesome too. Love the colors in this...almost a robin's egg blue with a blast of fun colors
