This was my first time using the Quick Curve Ruler. I know there are probably some easier designs to start with, but I didn't think about that and chose the one with all the points to match!
And as hard as I tried - some points matched and others didn't. There is even a disclaimer in the pattern that states: "We have taken a very complicated traditional pattern and simplified the cutting/piecing, but when working with bias each block will have some variation with the pieced points." Yes, there are definitely some variations!
But once it was all together and you look at it from a distance - it looks pretty good! I couldn't be happier with the colors and fabrics in Little Ruby by Bonnie and Camille.
I considered circular quilting, but ended up with straight lines spaced 3/4" apart hoping to smoosh it all down flat.
And it worked!
Love it!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt!
ReplyDeleteIt looks fantastic to me, I don't see any mis-matched points from here. I'm glad to hear about another quilter's experience with this pattern because I made note of it the first time I saw it. I have the ruler but found it rather difficult and tricky with the little project I made to try it out and the end result did not lie flat. I think I need a bit more practice, and should just tackle another quilt with it, having extra fabric on hand in case any of the blocks are rejects.
ReplyDeleteIt looks fabulous! This pattern is on my list to make. I made the Metro Rings quilt last year, so I have some Quick Curving under my belt. :-)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful - really love the pop of red.
ReplyDeleteCindy, this is stunning! The aqua and red are beautiful together!
ReplyDeleteOh, my goodness, Cindy, it's so, so pretty! You did an amazing job! Congratulations on a beautiful finish! XO
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful and I don't see any mismatched points.
ReplyDeleteLove the colours and your points!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful arrangement of the fabric in the top; especially the red as it keeps your eye moving across the quilt top.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! There is so much movement and vitality in this pattern! It looks great with those soft colors and the points look great :) Great job!
ReplyDeleteThis quilt is on my to-do-list for next year! I love your colors and fabrics. It looks great!
ReplyDeletetotally cute. Love the red and aqua with white
ReplyDeletethank you for sharing your inspiration
Very eye-catching!! Love the circles!
ReplyDeleteWell, if you were sweating bullets trying to get corners to match, you did a fantastic job. And now you have a keepsake quilt - I love it!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I have this pattern too but I think it might not get started until after Christmas. It will be a nice way to start the new year!!!
ReplyDeletereally so beautiful! And the quilting works so well on it. I have a "circular" quilting I've been struggling trying to figure out how to quilt, I may totally do straight lines now. :)
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful quilt. That fabric collection is really pretty. I also have been considering attempting quilting with straight lines :)
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous Cindy!
ReplyDeleteLove it! I need to try this ruler.
ReplyDeleteThis is stunning! I have the ruler but have hesitated on doing a full quilt.... thank you for inspiration!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh! I'm currently working on the same quilt as a christmas gift to my grandmother. I have never sewn a circular pattern and am very nervous for those steps!
ReplyDeleteYours looks beautiful!
Just gorgeous! This is my favorite pattern from Sew kind of Wonderful. I've got it and the ruler...just need to get started!
ReplyDeleteWe LOVE your fabric choice and red pops of color! It's always a thrill when one of our patterns is taken to the next level of individual creativity! Thanks for your frankness about the curved piecing and matching your points. Helen of Sew Kind of Wonderful 😍😍😍
ReplyDeleteWow its so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteOh my, that is gorgeous. Good job on your color layout and your piecing!!
ReplyDeleteLoved this one too. Your piecing looks perfect to me, as usual. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful quilt! Congratulations! I have the pattern too but haven't really dared to start this quilt but looking at yours makes me want to! Best wishes from Germany
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful quilt, I love the classic red and aqua combination as well as the curves.
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing. Everything looks perfectly matched to me. I have the ruler but have not picked a pattern yet to use with it.
ReplyDeleteIt looks gorgeous, and I can't see any mismatched or cut off points. That's very encouraging. How far off were your points from the spots on the ruler they were suppose to meet when squaring up? I've cut up a heaping pile of fabric to make one for my daughter, and I'm having a terrible time trimming up my blocks. I fear no two points will be even close to meeting where they should! Any advice you can share would be greatly appreciated!
ReplyDeleteI love this! I've had the ruler for awhile now (don't even remember what prompted me to buy it), but this quilt inspired me to get the pattern. Not sure when I'll start it, but I have this post saved as a favorite for when I do!
