The fabric line is "Hunky Dory". The pattern "Slushie" from A Baker's Dozen, written and published by Martingale and Company.
I just love how the design used a wide border around each of the alternate blocks. With this awesome floral to work with, the blocks look like matted and framed pieces of art.
A Baker's Dozen is filled with great projects using popular pre-cuts. You may think there are 13 projects, but no, these nice bakers give you 14! All beautiful! And the generous people at Martingale donated a book for me to give away. Just leave a comment - maybe you can let me know why you like to use pre-cuts. I'll draw a winner next Friday Aug. 13th. It may be your lucky day!
I love your quilt, and the quilting is just divine!! I love pre-cuts because they give me a bit of every fabric to play with without having to break the bank :)
ReplyDeletethe quilt is beautiful. i love jelly rolls, charm packs, layer cakes, they just look so neat :D
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful quilt! And I agree with you about the white 'frames', a nice way to highlight a special fabric. I like pre-cuts because I can get right to the sewing, and I don't have a GO! yet.
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is fabulous! The quilting adds a great dimension to the overall design.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a great book for pre-cuts. I use the pre-cuts because I like having such a large sampling of the fabric line. It gives the quilt a little extra spice without breaking my budget.
Your quilt is beautiful. I love the colors. I'm a little new to quilting and have just discovered the pre-cuts. I will have to order them online as none of the shops in town carry them.
ReplyDeleteI generally don't use precuts, but if this book is inspirational, I might start. I do have a layer cake waiting to be baked into something! Kathie L in Allentown
ReplyDeleteThanks for a chance to win!! I've used charms quite a bit. They're all ready to get sewin' and you can have a great wall hanging or table topper in no time with just a bit of ALL of a line of fabric. Love 'em!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the give a way!! I like precut because you get all the fabric in the line, and you dont have to cut.
ReplyDeletethank you for the generous giveaway! I like precuts because I hate doing the math!
ReplyDeleteLove your quilt...and of course I love pre-cuts because it saves a lot of time cutting! Love the quilting on your quilt as well!
ReplyDeleteYour quilt looks amazing! Love the pre-cuts for the wonderful pieces of fabrics in each line that you get to play with.
ReplyDeleteYour quilt and the quilting is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI have that book and I never notice that quilt in the book before.
What a beautiful quilt! I love to use precuts because I'm getting back into quilting after a 10 year hiatus. I also do a lot of mail order, so it's easy to order a jelly roll or layer cake.
ReplyDeleteWow, love the quilt, the colors are just beautiful. I love using pre-cuts, charm packs and jelly rolls, because you get to sample sooo many more fabrics!
ReplyDeleteI like precuts because you dont have to cut, of course!
ReplyDeleteI must admit that I've never used precuts - but now that my time is very limited I'm looking for patterns that will simplify the cutting. I love the quilt you made and the quilt on the book cover is perfect.
ReplyDeleteI have been eyeing this book - I love having new patterns for the precuts I get. I just can't help myself... I love having a little 5 inch square of every fabric in a collection. MUCH more affordable than buying a half yard/yard of each!
ReplyDeleteJust imaging buying a whole collection of a line so that a quilt looks good and the different colors go well together and having to buy a whole yard of each print. Personally I would only be able to afford like three lines a year and would soon be tired of these, while everywhere else online I would see what I could do with all the other collections that I couldn't afford. Really, the world needs precuts!
ReplyDeleteI think I would really like that book, thanks so much for the opportunity to win it. I like precuts because you get all the fabric in a family without spending a great deal of money. Now that precuts are popular, I'm able to have more variety, I buy more families of fabric, not more fabric.
ReplyDeletemmmmm....slushie! it looks wonderful! i'm not a big fan that pattern, but it looks so beautiful here.
ReplyDeletepre-cuts were sent from heaven. i LOVE not having to mess with a pile of material and all the tedious math and how to cut things to best utilize the material, and not to mention haveing to spend 3 days just cutting the pieces. Pre-cuts let us get right the fun part!
thanks for an inspirational blog!
I love precuts because I get to have pieces of each fabric from the whole line. Usually it helps to quicken the cutting process.
ReplyDeleteI am a new quilter and so far have only used pre-cuts, I am only on my 3rd quilt. I don't have a huge cutting table, so this makes it so much less stressful for me. I also love the fact that the range of fabric you get is quite large.
ReplyDeleteI'm always looking for a way to use pre-cuts creatively. It seems like so many patterns are just sewing the squares together in boring rows. I've been eying this book every time I walk by the quilting book section too!
ReplyDeleteThat quilt is super cute! I love how the flowers are 'framed'.
ReplyDeleteI adore pre-cuts due to the fact that cutting fabric, to me, is the DEVIL! That is my number one issue with quilting. I love sewing, buying fabric, quilting, and even binding, but I HATE cutting things out.
I would love this book! I've been thinking about purchasing this book, but if I have a chance at winning it, I'll just hope for that!
I simply like pre-cuts because half of the (miserable) cutting work is already done, and I can get on to the fun of peicing just that much quicker. Looks like a great book!
ReplyDeleteI am so in need of inspiration right now, and hope I win. ... And the quilting on that little quilt is darling!
ReplyDeleteWhat can I say!?! Absolutely beautiful! The quilting fantastic, just suited to the quilt. The quilt is bright, cheery and heartwarming. Thank you for this giveaway. Very inspirting.
ReplyDeleteHave a super great sewing day.
I too love the Hunky Dory and it worked up great using that pattern. Your quilting is over the top. I used Layer Cakes to make my Twister and love working with the pre cut.
ReplyDeleteLinda
Outstanding quilting and love the fabric for that pattern. I have used the Jelly Rolls in one of my quilts.
ReplyDeleteMargaret L.
Love this quilt and quilting is beautiful. Have not used any pre cuts, trying to use out of my stash.
ReplyDeleteMelvagene C.
I am so excited - I would love to own this book. Thanks for the chance. I love using precuts because it keeps me from having to do so much cutting...which I hate to do. Makes the quilt come along so quickly not to mention the precuts are cut accurately! Love them.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty quilt!! I love pre-cuts because it gives you a "taste" of the fabric without investing a bunch of money....my problem comes with using the precuts and that's why I need this book :o)
ReplyDeleteLove your quilt! I like precuts because I can afford the full spectrum of prints & colors that are otherwise too expensive. Also love them because my rotary cutting skills are not the greatest!
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is great. I actually haven't used precuts yet. I have only made one quilt and am getting ready to start my second. thanks for the chance
ReplyDeletelbroadstreet@tds.net
Your quilt is beautiful! I love using precuts. I don't always cut very well, so precuts help with that. They are also a great, affordable way to play with all the fabrics from a line. Yum!
ReplyDeleteCindy, I love the quilt. The sneak peek was deceiving. Love the blocks set on point. Would love to win that beauty.
ReplyDeleteVirginia
Cindy, great as usual. The quilting is wonderful. I have that book and I'm going to go look up that pattern. CAB
ReplyDeleteYour quilting looks amazing and the fabric is perfect for the pattern. I love precuts not only for quilts but for smaller (quick!) projects as well.
ReplyDeleteIts beautiful!!!!! I'm not always a big fan of a lot of quilting on my quilts, but that one is done beautifully.... especially love that border fabric!!
ReplyDeleteIt is a beautiful quilt and the quilting surely adds dimension and beauty!! I love using precuts because I couldn't possibly buy all of the fabric in the line and with the precuts you get a little bit of all of them, and you know they will all play nicely together.
ReplyDeleteYour Quilt is so beautiful. I love precuts, because I have so much different fabrics.
ReplyDeleteMany greetings from Germany
Gudrun
So many reasons I like precuts...no cutting, just get to the sewing...all the beautiful fabrics of a line...so many design possibilities. Love your Slushie quilt and would like to make one of my own. Thanks!

I have some precuts staring at me from the closet. Maybe this book would put them to work...
ReplyDeleteI love precuts....and have used them since they first appeared. I'd love to win this book.
ReplyDeleteBev/Mo
Cindy,
ReplyDeleteThe quilt is really nice. Like your quilting. I am trying to teach myself to machine quilt with my new Bernina 440. May take some time to get good enough to do any quilts, but I am willing to wait. I thought your quilt pattern might work with some fabrics I picked up in the Chicago area last month. Now, Just need the pattern. Keep up the good work.
Cindy your custom quilting is beautiful and so is your quilt--great job--I have made at least 6 quilts with jelly rolls and charm packs and have lots more on my shelf so "A Baker's Dozen" would come in handy--I like the precuts because you get a variety of fabrics in a small package and they save a lot of cutting time--thanks for the give-away--Bonnie4c
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt! I like pre-cuts because you get a piece of each fabric in the line. I've been looking at that book and would love to win a copy. Thanks to you and Martingale!
ReplyDeleteGreat quilt and use of the Hunky Dory fabric line. I am just starting to purchase pre-cuts. Being a scrap quilter, I like the idea of getting "a little piece" of the entire line.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great giveaway! I'd love to win this book!
Nice quilt! I like the idea of having bits of the collection at a fraction of the price!
ReplyDeleteGreat giveaway! Thanks for a chance to win!
I have only been using precuts for a couple of months, and could really use a design book!! At first, I never understood why people would want to use them...now I just love them and have to force myself to remember that I have an extensive stash already!
ReplyDeleteGreat job on your quilting and the quilt is great too. Thanks for the opportunity to win Baker's Dozen. Precuts are great since you get one of each fabric in the line. Judy
ReplyDeleteThat quilt is lovely! I really like that thick sashing too. I usually use jelly rolls for my sashing, but it would be fun to try different widths of fabric.
ReplyDeleteI like to use precuts because it saves time and most times the cutting is more accurate than my cutting....
ReplyDeleteHello, congratulations the quilt and the book look divine. Pre-cuts are great because the colours all match. Happy days.
ReplyDeleteBev.xoxo
Your slushie quilt looks fabulous! I love layer cakes because you get a shocking amount of fabric for a nicer price than yardage.
ReplyDeleteI love your quilt and would love to win that book! I love using pre-cuts because they make piecing SO much faster! :)
ReplyDeleteI just discovered your blog via JaybirdQuilts and am looking forward to snooping around abit! I love precuts because they're 'precut' of course. When I want to make a quick project I can pull one out and whip something up in a hurry.
ReplyDeleteI like using precuts because it saves SO much time on cutting, plus you can get such a variety of prints at a lower cost because you don't have to purchase a "minimum amount" of each!
ReplyDeleteLovely blog, and thanks for hosting a giveaway! I've actually never worked with precuts, but I've always been soooo tempted to buy some. I think winning this book would be a perfect excuse! ;)
ReplyDeletelove your quilt and am enjoying pre cuts so please include me.
ReplyDeletethanks!
Because I can't cut straight. :)

ReplyDeleteGreat giveaway. Sometimes it is nice to have everything cut up so you can just go! :)
ReplyDeleteYour Hunky Dory quilt is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE premades, to me they are an economical way to get a cut of each and every fabric in a line. There are so many ways to use them you could never run out of patterns or ideas!
Love the pre-cuts because with them I can't screw up the cut! Love that hunky dory! Looks like an awesome book too.

Precuts give you a little bit of everything and are like being able to sample every dessert on the menu!

ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty quilt! I love that Hunky Dory fabric! I like precuts because I don't have to worry about accidentally making a crooked cut :).
ReplyDeleteThis stunning quilt would so like to live in my house in London. It would be wonderful to have such a professional thing in the house after all my dross ... see annabelleserendipity.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteI think pre cuts are fab ... I am just too useless to get the cutting right (let alone the following steps!) Annabelle
What a great book! I have actually looked at this one before, but didn't end up buying it. I'd love to own it.
ReplyDeleteGreat giveaway! Please count me in!
ReplyDeleteThe quilting and pattern for this quilt is gorgeous. Would like to give this a try too, though I cannot machine quilt. Please enter me into the drawing. Well, just purchased my first "precuts" of 5 inch charms and do not know what to do with them. Know that they will be more accurate in the cut than any I would cut...and staight on the grain. Thanks for sharing with the giveaway. I like Martingale books.
ReplyDeleteI love precuts because it allows you to put together a stunning quilt in no time.Less prep means more sewing time.=)
ReplyDeleteLove the colors in the quilt. So fresh. I love precuts because of time saved and can get right into the design and sewing.
ReplyDeleteI love pre cuts because they save me a lot of time, and I get a wide variety of matching fabrics in one neat package.
ReplyDeleteI only started sewing in November of last year, so I need the help of the precuts to help me feel like I am making progress when I seem to go so slooooooooooooow :)
ReplyDeleteOoh, I've had my eye on that book for awhile! I've added a lot of precuts to my stash recently - they're just so fun and color coordinated! And there's a whole new industry out there designing patterns for them!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, your quilting is fabulous!
jfquilts@gmail.com
I love that I can get a whole fabric line without spending a fortune.
ReplyDeleteHi! I am new to quilting (3 baby quilts this year) and I like the precuts because everything is already coordinated for me. Being new, and not confident in my grasp of color theory, this helps me a lot!
ReplyDeleteI'd love this book! The best part about using pre-cuts is that you have a little bit of every print in one fabric line - something I couldn't afford to buy in yardage!
ReplyDeleteI love that quilt! Well done. like using precuts because my cutting is never as accurate - I only made the mistake of cutting strips once!
ReplyDeletei like precuts because having 4 kids, finding time to really cut fabric for sewing can be a challenge!! and i would rather find time to sew ;O)
ReplyDeleteLOVE your quilt and the quilting is amazing!
ReplyDeletePrecuts are great because I get to sample a little bit of the whole line of fabric. I could never afford to do that otherwise.
I would love to win this book, thank you!
SheilaC
Oh how I love quilting books!!! And what a beautiful quilt you made! I love precuts mainly because they can be SUCH a time saver! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful quilt!! I love precuts because it's less wear and tear on my hand that gets so sore at times.
ReplyDeleteI love precuts as they allow you to make 'controlled' scrappy quilts...quickly.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the opportunity to win this quilting book!
What a beautiful quilt, I love pre-cuts as it is a cheaper way to use a range of fabrics that you just have to have.
ReplyDeleteI love your quilt - it is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI like that precuts give you a colour perfect result, it is also a great way to see the whole range!
Your fabric choice is awesome! I am "fabric picking challenged" LOL!!!!
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is so nice! I love precuts specially because it allows to use many different fabrics without having to buy the minimum yardage from them all! And It's also practical that is already pre cut for you!
ReplyDeleteLove the quilt, I have a charm pack of Hunky Dory in my stash.. I like precuts cause you get so many different fabrics in small quantities, also I often buy charm packs as sort of 'preview', before actually buying yardage, I shop online alot, so that's handy..
ReplyDeleteWow, what a wonderful quilt, I love to use precuts because you get such a great variety of fabrics!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, your quilt is AWESOME! Regarding the giveaway, I have never actually bought a pre-cut, but I cut my scraps down to 1.5", 2", 2.5" 3", 3.5", 4", 4.5" and 5" squares and I find that I use those pre-cut scraps more than anything else in my quilting. I love the convenience, and as a scrap quilter, I love the variety. Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteI love pre-cuts because I'm lazy and also because you can get a lot of patterns that coordinate for a smaller project.
ReplyDeleteI like pre-cuts because they give me a jump-start on the cutting process.
ReplyDeleteWow, I love the quilt with Hunky Dory. I haven't seen that book yet. It will be one I'm going to have to get.
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful! I'm trying to get back into quilting and always seeking inspiration!
ReplyDeletewhat a wonderful quilt--love the colors!! how fun to have the chance to win a book--more ideas to do. i love pre-cuts for various reasons--can get a bunch of fabrics to drool over and try to figure how to use them, or just enjoy. in the midst of making a paintbox quilt with a jelly roll and a Christmas quilt with a layer cake from kate spain--just love having left-overs to share with my daughter, too.
ReplyDeleteHi there Hyacinth! I love precuts ... and have been using them whenever possible. I am rubbish at cutting accurately myself - always in a hurry and messing things up ...the book looks perfect for one such as me. I am new to blogging (annabelleserendipity.blogspot.com) and new to quilting (second time around)... need help!! Love your site and have saved as 'special' Annabelle
ReplyDeleteSo pretty and the quilting looks great!
ReplyDeletebeautiful quilt!! wow!!
ReplyDeletei would like to use pre cuts cues i dont like cutting!!
but i love sewing!
thanks!
I love the quilt!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite things about pre-cuts are not having to try to make straight edges out of big yardages of fabric (which for some reason is always really hard for me!) and that I get tons of beautiful different pieces of fabric without having to spend tons of money!
My least favorite part of quilting is the cutting so, I use pre-cuts whenever I get the chance. Great job on the quilting, I love all the custom work.
ReplyDeletegoodscents101@gmail.com
Love the Quilt! Pre-cuts are great, I am in the process of learning quilting and love the pre-cut, I just never know which one to get! The book look like it is chuck full of ideas!
ReplyDeleteThis looks wonderful. I just started on my first quilt. I really don't like cutting out the fabric and I've bought several charm packs that I just sew together and use for bags and such. I really like the look of matching squares.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt - wish I could free motion like that! I was just introduced to pre-cuts this summer & I love them. Been using charms for a coin quilt swap & a jelly roll for a block by designer quilt - love working with them! Thanks for the chance to win a great looking book.
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is beautiful! The book looks great - thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteI am a newbie quilter, so both my stash and cold cash are fairly low. With the jelly roll and precuts, I can get the variety without having to break the piggy bank. Geesh, I'm showing my age, do they still make piggy banks that you have to smash to open? Thank you for this lovely giveaway.
ReplyDeletensue21702 at gmail dot com
Your quilt is lovely; I particularly appreciate the quilting because I am not at all skilled at that. Your choice of fabrics is great.
ReplyDeletePrecuts give me inspiration as soon as I see a package, no matter the size. I'm not limited-just the opposite because I can begin to visualize a quilt with the fabrics.
Thanks very much.
What a blessing it has been to me today to have won this book! I had been having one of those yucky days when I saw your email in my inbox. Thank you so much, I can't wait and will be watching the mailbox!!
