First up, if you're in a Reader, take a moment and click on over to the blog. I've got a new design and I'd love to know what you think! Thanks to Beth Bradford for not only coming up with a design that really fits my style, but doing all the technical work to make it appear!
Next up, I'm excited to share my Tsuru Sampler. My very first quilt was a sampler and I always think of them as a good learning quilt. This one was no exception. Having signed up for the Quilt Design tool on Threadbias and needing a project to play around with and learn the program, I started designing several different blocks. Tsuru was sitting on my cutting table at the time and I just started playing - stitching up each block as I drew.
I had fun sewing up some blocks I had never tried before...
And challenged by some of the graphic prints in the line...
This turned out to be one of my favorite blocks...
Perfect block for this sampler ~ Birds in the Air...
And I love how these cross blocks sneak into the border...
I even tried some custom quilting designs that were definitely new to me!
One of the things I love about quilting is that there's always something new to try and something different to learn! Well, that and all the gorgeous fabric :)
Your new site design is GORGEOUS. Love how the quilt compliments the colours of your page hee hee!!! The quilt is fabulous, I too adore how those little crosses are so sneaky and I really like the straight-line quilting grid on that one! Pretty pretty!!!!
ReplyDeletebeautiful new site design! how do you like the thread bias design tool? I have thought about trying it. can you make patterns for foundation piecing? how about curved templates? those are what I am most limited on on my current software.
ReplyDeleteDitto on the gorgeous! I love how you made the designs add to the fabric itself! Lovely!
ReplyDeleteI love the quilt sampler; very cool!
ReplyDeleteLove the design. It's fresh, and how I imagine your style to be. Is that weird?!
ReplyDeleteI'm digging the new design, Cindy! Its so cool, and the colors are great! Congrats! The quilt is beautiful. What a pretty line Tsuru is!
ReplyDeleteYour new website design is really gorgeous, modern & fresh - it looks terrific! And your Tsuru sampler quilt is beautiful too.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, that quilt is amazing. Tsuru is a beautiful collection and you have really done it justice. Seconldy, I love your new blog design. I generally don't like blog backgrounds, but yours is very nice and not distracting. The header is beautiful and I like the little blurb about where your blog name came from. My best friend is named Cynthia and I usually call her Cynth :)
ReplyDeleteCindy, the blog looks great, and your quilt is gorgeous! Navy is my favorite color, and your quilt just makes it pop. Love it!
ReplyDeleteLove your site's redesign, especially the chevron background!
ReplyDeleteThe site looks wonderful and the quilt is absolutely gorgeous. I love the colours and the block designs are great. I've used Threadbias a couple of times and it's a great tool for quilt design.
ReplyDeleteOoh, I love the new blog design, Cindy! It really fits your style well!
ReplyDeleteThis quilt is gorgeous! I love this collection and how you displayed it in each block. I also love the new look of your blog.
ReplyDeleteGreat blog makeover!
ReplyDeleteLove the new look! I'm not normally a fan of backgrounds on blogs but the grey makes it really unobtrusive!
ReplyDeleteThe new blog design is fresh and functional. The triangle block is my favorite, too, on the Tsuru Sampler.
ReplyDeleteWonderful design, seems to fit more with where you and your work is heading. The Tsuru Sampler is beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteCindy, I LOVE the Tsuru sampler! The colors are gorgeous!! I am a beginner, so this little quilt is far beyond my current skills. I am, however, practicing, taking classes, and growing my fabric stash. I love everything you make. I wish you could teach me everything you know. I would, however, settle for perhaps a pattern or tutorial for this sampler quilt? Or perhaps just a quick description of each of the blocks? I would love nothing more than to be able to make one of these to hang in my sewing room, someday...
ReplyDeleteI don't have plans at the moment for a tutorial. Most of the blocks are fairly simple traditional blocks that you may be a be to find online or in some of your quilting books. Judy Hopkins' block books are wonderful. They give cutting instructions for so many blocks in different sizes. You may even find them in your library! Good luck with your quilt!
DeleteYour sampler is FANTASTIC! ^_^
