Final finishes and pattern winner!

First up the winner of the free Outlined Plus pattern is Lace. Congratulations - I've contacted you by email.

Today I have to share my final 2 finishes for the year. Both of these quilts were pieced during the stressful time of selling our house. I had a lot on my mind at the time and both of these quilts provided a nice respite - not a lot of thinking and a lot of busy work.

First up is Fireworks. I used a fat quarter bundle of Gooseberry that I bought at a local quilt shop. This quilt had been on my to-do list for a while and turned out just like I envisioned it!

A busy quilt like this one seems the perfect candidate for straight line quilting. I quilted a big "X" going from corner to corner then did echoing straight lines in each quadrant created by the "X".

My second quilt is Vintage Tulips. One of my goals with this one was to put a dent in my aqua stash. It barely made the dent, but I do love all the aqua scrappiness in the strips.

I quilted this on the longarm using a favorite design called paisley or headbands. I've used this design often and it felt pretty comfortable, although different, quilting it on the longarm. I really love how you can go quite a bit bigger with the design in longarm quilting.

A little deviation from the pattern - I did several of my tulips using one solid fabric - this one using almost the last of my beloved Bliss dots...

So I'd call that a wrap for this year! Wishing you all love and peace during this holiday season and throughout the new year. Thank you so much for sharing this space and following my quilty adventures! Looking forward to see what 2016 brings!

Peace and joy,

  5. Thank you for posting your Fireworks finish! I started this quilt almost two years ago and when it came to cutting the white fabric, I gave up. Seeing yours has inspired me to pull it out and work on it this week!
