Plot Twist, a pattern by Anna Maria Horner is my first appliqué quilt in quite a while! I thoroughly enjoyed getting back to the slow process of hand stitching - this quilt has been in the works since January. All the shapes were appliquéd by turning under the edges with starch and freezer paper, then stitched with matching 80 weight Aurifil thread.
I modified the pattern a bit, to create the size I wanted to work with. Several sizes are included in the pattern and I created my version combining elements from several options.
The background is Essex Linen in white and gray and quilted with straight horizontal lines. After the machine quilting was completed, I hand quilted the appliqué shapes with 12 weight Aurifil thread.
It's been such a fun project and I think there is more handwork in my future!
It's gorgeous, Cindy. I've been finding myself gravitating to applique and handwork more lately, too. I look forward to seeing what you pick to do next!
