Garden Fence is a block I originally shared here on the blog and then provided the full pattern in my book, Simply Modern Christmas.
I thought it might be fun to play around in EQ with the quilt design and this is what I came up with.
Here is the book version...
And my original...
I used the method, Subtracting for Minimalism that I learned in a workshop from Cheryl at Meadow Mist Designs. By using the paintbrush tool in EQ I "erased" portions of the quilt.
It's quilted with straight lines that radiate from the offset center block.
I'm pretty pleased with the experiment!
The subtraction of elements created a whole new design; I really like the asymmetry you chose!
ReplyDeleteI made your original quilt in blues and yellows. I cant believe it was 2011. How time flies.
ReplyDeleteI love that you have made it again in a new way
This is lovely! I've never heard of this design concept for modernism, but it totally makes sense. And your new piece really exemplifies it :)
ReplyDeleteI love the new version of the pattern (the pattern is also cool of course). I will take her class at QuiltCon and am already very excited :) PS: Great colors and fabrics too!
ReplyDeleteI really like this new version. It actually reminds me of something I tore out of a catalog (about two years ago) thinking it would be an interesting quilt. Looks like I was right! And now you've designed it for me. :-) Guess I'll have to pick up your book. First, I have to get out from under a boatload of WIPs.
ReplyDeleteYou sure are having fun playing with this block!
