MBS recipe...

I've got an easy baby quilt over at The Moda Bake Shop today!

I wanted it to be super easy especially for beginning quilters. I included this handy tip at the end. If you're a new machine quilter and just comfortable with stippling, but want to create a custom look - change your thread color to match the fabric you're sewing on. I did a simple star in each of the small squares, but then stippled everything else. By stopping a few times to change to matching thread, I got a custom look with simple quilting.

The quilt is made with "It's a Hoot" and I love this striped backing. Looks like I pieced it.

  6. I love the quilt - and I really like your stippling style! I'm new to quilting so all I do is stipple and parallel lines and I'm always interested in how other people do theirs!

  9. I'm new to quilting and happened upon your quilts and I LOVE them. I prefer a more contemporary style and I see that in so many of yours.

I do have a dumb question though. Since I'm brand new I just visit my local JoAnn for fabric, but I'm seeing the Moda fabric all over on the web. I've been to the bake shop blog but am wondering if there's a specific place to buy the fabric. I'd love to try to make this quilt.

Thanks much for your beautiful designs and inspiration.

  10. Gorgeous quilt. I just finished up my own mini version using the It's a Hoot charm pack. I love how you did the quilting. Maybe one day I'll be up to making a larger version like yours!
