Terrazzo Quilt

I have a new finished quilt to share today! The pattern is by Lee at Freshly Pieced and called Terrazzo. This one has been on my to-do list for quite a while. I even attempted it last Fall, with a plan to make it in shades of blue. After making a few blocks, I decided the color palette didn't do the design justice. I went on to make my Ikat Quilt.

One of my quilting goals this year is to sew from my stash. I knew I could pull enough fabrics from my stash and turn this into the vision I had in mind.

It was fun combining some pieces that have been in my stash for years with some newly acquired fabrics.

For some reason I've been doing this lately - not counting what I'm cutting and going way overboard. Luckily I used many of the leftover squares and added them to the backing...

For the quilting, after straight stitching around the blocks, I quilted back and forth loops in the background and a triangle meander in the blocks.

A black and white striped binding was the perfect finish. It was in my stash, but now I think it needs replacing. Always a good one to have on hand!

It feels really good to sew from my stash, but I have to admit this one didn't even make the teeniest, tiniest dent. It may be an impossible task!

  1. Stash or not, you've created a lovely, cheerful quilt. That black & white binding is perfect, and I'd replenish that when you can.

  2. Wow! I don't comment much, but couldn't pass this quilt up without commenting. So beautiful. The perfect combination of color, pattern and quilting!! Would you say it was an intermediate or difficult pattern??

  6. This quilt is fabulous!! I love it! It looks like it would be fairly quick to make? Our family is in wedding mode---all the nieces and nephews are at that age and I've promised wedding quilts for each. This looks like a great pattern for those!

  8. The striped binding really is the perfect accent to finish the quilt off.

  9. This is just beautiful. And the binding is perfect. I'm afraid if I made this quilt, it wouldn't make a dense in my stash either. :)

  10. This looks fantastic. I love the fresh, dramatic look of those brights with the white. Of course, the binding just sets the whole thing off. Very nice!!

  12. This is so pretty! I'm a sucker for a bright, multi-colored quilt on a white background. As impractical as I know white quilts are, there's something fresh about them. You've done a nice job choosing your stash fabrics, and your quilting designs are effective too.
